Founded in 2017, KooJoo is what happened when some like-minded entrepreneurs met over a summer picnic.
With a shared enthusiasm for smart home technology, the frustration of what was led to a vision of what could be. We looked for a simple, joined up and secure experience, but couldn’t find one without making compromises. So we decided to build it ourselves.
James had a career in financial software spanning 16 years before co-founding KooJoo with Kevin Chetty in 2017. Having earned a first class BSc (Hons) in Mathematics from the University of Manchester, James has worked around the globe for a range of investment banks and other financial institutions including Morgan Stanley, Markit, Credit Suisse and Barclays building pricing, trading and analytics applications. James now brings his software and leadership expertise to KooJoo to create a new connected home experience, proudly flying the flag for British innovation.
Kevin is an Associate Professor at University College London (UCL) and brings his research expertise in sensor systems, mathematical modelling, and machine leaning. As a UCL post-doctoral researcher Kevin pioneered the development of WiFi passive radar; a new technology expected to drive the development of ubiquitous sensing and smart environments. Kevin received a PhD in Medical Physics from Imperial College for developing predictive mathematical models and new ultrasound imaging strategies. He also holds an MRes in X-Ray Physics (Distinction) and BSc Physics (First Class) degree from King’s College London.
